UK PM Keir Starmer is not the only current official to be a shadow of his predecessors, Moscow believes<\/strong><\/p>\n

US President Donald Trump is correct to suggest that certain Western European leaders do not measure up to their World War II-era predecessors, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.<\/p>\n

Trump on Tuesday renewed<\/a> his criticism of European NATO members who refused<\/a> his call to deploy their militaries to escort oil transports through the Strait of Hormuz amid the threat of Iranian attacks.<\/p>\n

The US president told reporters that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is a \u201cnice man\u201d<\/em> but \u201cunfortunately [he] is not Winston Churchill,\u201d<\/em> whose bust the president keeps in the Oval Office. Asked about French President Emmanuel Macron\u2019s snub, Trump said \u201che\u2019ll be out of office very soon.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Speaking at a regular briefing on Wednesday, Peskov agreed with Trump, stating: \u201cIndeed, Starmer is not Churchill, indeed, Macron is not [Charles] de Gaulle. This list can be continued quite long. That is the political reality we are living in.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
