The American \u201cdeep state\u201d could attempt to undermine Trump\u2019s approach, Dmitry Peskov has warned<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some parts of the newly revised US National Security Strategy (NSS) released by the administration of President Donald Trump align with Russian views, the Kremlin has said.<\/p>\n

The updated 33-page document released by the White House on Thursday calls for re-establishing \u201cstrategic stability\u201d<\/em> with Russia. <\/em>The strategy also states that Washington wants to \u201cnegotiate an expeditious cessation of hostilities in Ukraine\u201d <\/em>and \u201cmitigate the risk of conflict between Russia and European states.\u201d <\/em>It also sets the goal of \u201cending the perception, and preventing the reality, of NATO as a perpetually expanding alliance.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/em>Trump\u2019s policies are \u201ca pretty big turnaround compared to what we had with the previous administrations,\u201d <\/em>Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin in an interview which aired on Sunday. Peskov warned that the American \u201cdeep state\u201d <\/em>could attempt to undermine Trump\u2019s approach, which is why Russia would \u201ccarefully monitor the implementation\u201d o<\/em>f the strategy. <\/p>\n

He went on to add that a lot of the changes \u201cactually line up with our own vision.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt includes statements against confrontation and in favor of dialogue and maintaining good relations. This is also what Russian President Vladimir Putin is saying,\u201d<\/em> Peskov said.<\/p>\n

He noted that the new NSS offers hope for \u201cconstructive work toward a peaceful resolution for Ukraine.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Russia has praised Trump for reviving direct contacts that were broken off by his predecessor, former President Joe Biden, and for mediating peace talks with Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The NSS sharply criticizes Kiev\u2019s European supporters as holding \u201cunrealistic expectations for the war perched in unstable minority governments\u201d<\/em> and facing the \u201cprospect of civilizational erasure.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Some EU countries downplayed the accusations. \u201cWe see ourselves as being able to discuss and debate these matters entirely on our own in the future, and do not need outside advice,\u201d<\/em> German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
