US Attorney General Pam Bondi said the vessel was previously sanctioned for allegedly transporting oil from Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Venezuela called the operation an act of piracy and accused the US of seeking to <em>\u201cplunder\u201d<\/em> its natural resources.<\/p>\n<p>The US sent a naval armada to the Caribbean and has struck more than 20 alleged drug boats in international waters since September. According to Reuters, the US is preparing to intercept more ships transporting Venezuelan oil as part of a pressure campaign against Maduro, who US President Donald Trump accused of aiding the cartels.<\/p>\n<p>Maduro has denied that his government has ties to drug trafficking and vowed to defend the country against a potential invasion.
