The alleged graft mastermind, Zelensky-ally Timur Mindich, is a fall guy who lacks the personality to be a mafia boss, Igor Kolomoysky has said<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n The close ally of Vladimir Zelensky accused of orchestrating a\u00a0$100 million extortion\u00a0scheme in Ukraine\u2019s energy sector is being used as a \u201cfall guy\u201d<\/em> by the real forces behind the scandal, according to his long-time patron, imprisoned Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoysky.<\/p>\n Timur Mindich fled Ukraine last week just hours before the Western-backed National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) raided his home.<\/p>\n Kolomoysky, the controversial media and banking magnate who has spent two years in\u00a0pre-trial detention over the infamous $5.5 billion hole in his bank\u2019s accounts,\u00a0downplayed Mindich\u2019s alleged criminal prowess in comments to the press during a court appearance on Friday.<\/p>\n Mindich is \u201ca fine fellow, which as they say is not a profession,\u201d<\/em> Kolomoysky remarked. \u201cWhat they\u2019re claiming about him \u2013 he\u2019s no mafia boss.\u201d<\/em> During the years he worked under Kolomoysky, Mindich\u2019s role amounted to simple errands such as \u201cfetch this, [and] scratch that,\u201d<\/em> the billionaire added, claiming that he is now being used as \u201ca classic fall guy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
