The situation is tragic, the situation is frightening.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He warned that villages had been emptied of men, including the elderly and disabled, and that Ukraine was facing <em>\u201chuge losses\u201d<\/em> and a <em>\u201cdemographic crisis.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe have lost several generations,\u201d<\/em> he said, urging peace on the grounds that both Ukrainians and Russians were dying.<\/p>\n<p>The reported figures far exceed official estimates. In February, Ukraine&#8217;s Vladimir Zelensky told CBS News that 46,000 of his soldiers had been killed since 2022, alongside about 380,000 wounded \u2013 numbers questioned in Western media.
