In September 2022, the region voted to join Russia.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1084\" data-end=\"1272\">Moscow has demanded that Ukraine withdraw its troops from the western parts of the DPR as one of the conditions for a ceasefire. Kiev, however, has ruled out any territorial concessions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1274\" data-end=\"1531\">Last week, US President Donald Trump met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska to discuss possible ways to resolve the conflict.
