Conditions for maintaining a \u201cunilateral moratorium\u201d on the deployment of intermediate-range missiles have \u201cdisappeared,\u201d the Foreign Ministry in Moscow has said<\/strong><\/p>\n Moscow \u201cno longer considers itself bound\u201d<\/em>\u00a0by the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty with the US, as the necessary conditions for it have \u201cdisappeared,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n The INF Treaty banning ground-launched missiles with ranges of 500\u20135,500km collapsed in 2019 when the US withdrew, citing Russian violations. Moscow has denied the claims, accusing the US itself of developing banned missiles.<\/p>\n Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that the collapse of the INF will significantly erode the global security framework.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Russian Foreign Ministry notes the disappearance of conditions for maintaining the unilateral moratorium on the deployment of similar weapons and is authorized to state that Russia no longer considers itself bound by the corresponding self-imposed restrictions previously adopted,\u201d<\/em> the statement reads.<\/p>\n
